A gentle reminder….

That April is viewed as the beginning of kitten season. Anyone that works in rescue will tell you, although there is a time that more kittens are conceived there’s no specific time of the year rescues receive calls about pregnant or mothering cats needing to come into their care.

The Cats Protection have compiled information and found that a staggering 70% of litters aren’t planned, which is terribly sad because aside from the fact that there are so many health benefits to neutering (male or female), there are also a lot of beautiful cats already needing loving homes.

26th February is World Spay Day. The Cats Protection, along with eight other animal organisations, are working together to try and ensure that neutering is available at a low cost for people who are struggling financially.

Below is a link to the list of assistance available in various areas:

Kittens are beautiful. But there are already so many needing homes. If you’re considering allowing your cat to have a litter, I’d recommend checking local rescue sites first to look at the cats and kittens that already need someone to love them in their forever home, as well as reading up about the health benefits your cat will receive when you ensure they are neutered.
