I\u2019ve always been fascinated by the fact that some pedigree breeds in effect originated from genetic mutations that humans happened to find appealing. Naturally, the fact they\u2019re considered mutations means they often come with health conditions that other cats don\u2019t have to navigate.

Throughout history, there are sporadic reports of cats that are seen as a phenomena. One such instance occurred in 1949, and is referred to as
\u201dThe Attercliffe Wonder.\u201d The cat in question – who resided in Sheffield, UK – developed \u201cstrange lumps on their back, which appeared to be feather like or fur covered.\u201d There\u2019s little more information on this cat, potentially due to when the story was reported.

Among the more recent reports of such an instance, is this little guy. Seven month old Dobby is currently in foster under rescue care. He\u2019s in Alabama, and funds are being raised for underbite surgery, as that\u2019s one of the conditions he has that will impact his quality of life. Aside from the underbite, it seems his other differences are mostly aesthetic and Dobby is a happy, affectionate boy.
