Another \u201ckitten season,\u201d another rise of kittens in rescue in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In June 2024, it became a legal requirement to microchip your cat. Unfortunately, the same legal requirement wasn\u2019t put in place regarding neutering. So this is my annual blog to reinforce that not only is neutering physically beneficial for your cat, it\u2019s also psychologically advantageous. There\u2019s a page on the site that gives a little more information on why I believe this to be the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A quick Google search gives this snippet of information regarding the impact on the cat population in entirety: \u201cCharities are reporting a “crisis point” with an influx of abandoned litters and pregnant cats, leading to a 72% increase in cats in RSPCA care since 2021.\u00a0\u201c
if this rise is solely within the RSPCA, the figure is not even representative of the impact leaving a cat entire has on the smaller, independent rescues who receive substantially less funding. If you genuinely love your feline family; and cats in general, it\u2019s vital to understand that neutering is an important part of responsible cat care.
