I’m on top of the world, ma…

This month, I’ve noticed a few articles and posts that highlight the naturally inquisitive behaviour of cats, and how sometimes it’s not in their best interests.

The first case that caught my attention was a post on a local sale page. A concerned resident had seen a cat in a tree; about 40 foot up, who appeared to be unable to make his own way back down. Cats claws hook backwards and are designed for climbing up, not down. For a cat to get back down, there has to be a way for them to turn around, which didn’t seem to be something this boy could manage. He was stuck up the tree for more than twenty four hours before a tree surgeon was able to assist, and get him home safely.

Cats are amazing creatures and they manage to perform some utterly terrifying feats, but even they have their limits. Hopefully whatever peaked this boys interest enough to make him climb a 40 foot tree won’t happen again and he’s learned a valuable lesson about limitations.

Let’s hope this boy stays a little more grounded for a while….
