Artful Dodger…
One of the articles that I happened across this month is about a rather characterful cat called Vince, who is causing a stir at a Norwich cafe with his antics. It’s reported, Vince has taken to jumping on tables in the outside area and stealing food off of diners plates. (Unfortunately, he’s encouraged by some people, which isn’t beneficial for him or the cafe, and has resulted in the staff having to put up a sign asking customers to refrain from offering him food.)
Vinces owner has stated he believes that the issue is the result of his feline family member being given regular steroid injections for an allergy issue.
I had two main thoughts about this story. One is that it’s important for people to remember there’s potentially a negative impact on a cat that’s being encouraged to do something they find endearing another person may not. The second is that when we medicate cats, we rarely consider the possibility for minor side effects that may affect them in their day to day lives.
I’m not entirely sure what the solution is for this situation, but I hope it’s navigated amicably.
