I’ve written a few blogs about community cats, but there’s been a couple of news articles this month that inspired another one. These two felines have chosen a career in hospitality and both of them have a network of people who ensure they’re safe.
The first amiable greeter was actually in the papers due to his retirement. Mr Tibbs has been on pest control duty for 15 years in the beautiful Nottinghamshire spot, Clumber Park. Due to Mr Tibbs increasing health issues, it was felt it was in his best interests to let him find a gentler pace of life. You can read about Mr Tibbs here:

The second is a rather chunky, refined tabby boy who has been given the name Horatio. Horatio arrived at Kelmscott Manor via boat and has been awarded the title “Chief Wellness Officer.” Horatio has his own bank account to cover his expenses, and loves interacting with his fellow staff members and the public who visit Kelmscott Manor. What I like about both of these stories is the recognition of Mr Tibbs and Horatio’s needs, psychologically and practically. Both cats look loved, well socialised and very well cared for. I’m wishing Mr Tibbs an extremely happy retirement and hoping Horatio has many more happy years in his role of Chief Wellness Officer.
