When I was studying feline psychology in 2010, my last assignment was called “Lion In The Living Room,” because I felt it important that people recognised cats are simply not as domesticated as perceived, in the sense they still rely heavily on instincts. The recent discovery in this article expands on the timeframe for the domesticated cats “origin story.”

While cats are extremely intelligent, their way of thinking isn’t going to be exactly like ours. They may communicate information in ways that don’t immediately make sense, but it is absolutely possible to learn patterns and behaviour to help navigate the relationship.
