Merry Grinchmas…

I’ve been looking for feelgood stories about errant cats returning home just in time for the festive season. While I’ve been scrolling headlines, I found this article.

In fairness, it’s not the “gives warm fuzzies” vibe I was hoping for. But it’s important, so I’m writing about it. Shadow and Willow are being dubbed grinches to fit the festivities, but it’s obvious from the article that these two cats are simply a product of their environment prior to their time in rescue. Studies show that on average, cats remember things for up to seven years. According to the article, Shadow was a stray, so they’ll be a lot of caution and trust that needs to be built up before the behaviour illustrates anything other than survival mode.

I hope someone recognises that cats don’t always act a certain way when building a bond with you, and that Shadow and Willow find the loving home they deserve.
